Expert's advice:

Lowering the temperature of the charged air and maintaining it at a cool level improves both engine performance and reliability. The BMW B48 and B58 engines, along with their charge air cooling system, require a different type of upgrade than traditional setups. Unlike conventional air-to-air intercoolers, the charge air cooler in these engines uses a dedicated water circuit to cool the intake air. This water is then cooled by a radiator/heat exchanger using ambient airflow. While this system is effective at keeping intake temperatures low for extended periods, it also means that once the water circuit heats up, it takes longer to cool down again.

The Mosselman Heat Exchanger for BMW B48 and B58 engines significantly increases cooling capacity, expanding radiator volume from 7.70 liters (OEM) to 17 liters (Mosselman). This results in improved and more consistent performance by maintaining lower temperatures for longer and enabling faster cooldown once the system has been heat-soaked.
