Expert's advice:

The N54 engine is no stranger to oil cooling problems, that’s why we developed the MSL Oil Thermostat. A highly recommended upgrade for the N54 engine, especially when it’s tuned. Instead of opening at 105°C, the MSL Oil Thermostat opens at 85°C which results in an operational oil temperature 20°C lower than OEM. The MSL Oil Thermostat allows the engine to reach operating temperature at the same time as a stock thermostat. It’s made from a solid block of high-grade aluminium at our own facility and takes only 30 minutes to install.

With an ECU remap, also known as “chip tuning” or “reflash”, the original ECU of the car will be recalibrated on several different engine parameters for more performance. Options like speed limiter removal and start/stop deactivation are available. Please note that an ECU remap will void the factory warranty once detected by a BMW dealer. Installation and back to stock can be done by any official Mosselman Dealer, or at home with the iMoss DIY solution that we offer.

The ECU Remap will take your BMW 135i E82 N54 to approximately 370 hp and 510 Nm on premium fuel (98 Oct EU / 93 Oct USA), which is highly recommended. Additional to the ECU remap we recommend installing our MSL Oil Thermostat N54 to lower the oil temperature.

Go for the next step in performance with our Stage 2 ECU remap and an upgraded Intercooler: a very cool and powerful combination. The intercooler will lower the intake temperature, allowing more timing and boost resulting in better performance in all conditions.

The downpipes can be ordered with or without Sport Catalytic* and will reduce the backpressure, resulting in better performance and a racing sound. *Please note that the catless downpipe can cause problems due to the road regulations in your country.

Tuning a car is a delicate thing. Whether it’s an ECU remap, a new turbo or a full-on stage three tuning, you need to make sure each component is working at optimal efficiency under careful supervision of a sufficiently smart engine management system. After all, you’re looking to create a symphony and that’s hard to do when one of the instruments is off. That’s why all of our products are designed and built in-house. Professional tuning requires a steady hand and we want to be solely responsible for getting the most out of your car.

Because most modern engines are heavily restricted due to emission regulations, an ECU remap or installation of an engine control unit is always the first step towards unlocking the performance your BMW or Mini is capable of. However, as our name implies, we do have upgraded turbos, should you be in the market for one. When we talk about chiptuning a car (remap), we mean that we adjust the software of your BMW or Mini. This allows us to change the parameters of the engine management system, for an example the fuel injection system, ignition and turbo pressure. We always stay within the limits of the engine, which allows you to enjoy maximum performance under safe engine conditions.

Mosselman Turbo Systems has been the expert in BMW and Mini tuning for over 40 years. Due to our experience and expertise we know exactly how far we can go when we chiptune a car. Over the years we’ve constantly developed and thoroughly tested of our software mappings. We believe it’s very important that our software and performance products don’t have negative impact on the reliability of a car. That’s why made sure every upgrade we perform is completely safe and does not harm the car or it’s engine, if driven under normal conditions.

The fuel consumption after chip tuning will be a bit lower, if driven under normal circumstances. However, if you have more power and torque you will probably use it and this will increase the fuel consumption. You can save fuel with our chip tuning, but it all comes down to how good you are in controlling your right foot.

No, we don’t offer warranty on the engine after buying our chip tuning. We don’t do this because we don’t know how what happened with the car and engine before the chip tuning. Before we start with the tuning we will always read the ECU for fault codes and check the engine visually for possible problems. Due to our experience and expertise we know exactly how far we can go when we chiptune a car. We always stay within the limits of the engine, which allows you to enjoy maximum performance under safe engine conditions.

Chip tuning your car will take approximate 3-4 hours, including optional dyno runs. We have a waiting area with some magazines and coffee to make the waiting comfortable.
