ECU Unlock BMW 2020+
BMW/Bosch has modified (locked) the security of ECUs since June 2020. As a result, cars produced from that month onward can no longer be tuned in the conventional way, the ECU protection must first be removed. The company that provides this service is based in Finland and performs it exclusively on-site. Because Mosselman collaborates with this company, we are able to get your ECU unlocked and then tune it with our own Mosselman software (chiptuning). On this we explain how the entire process works.
Procedure
You bring your car to us, we will park the car at our location and remove the ECU, which will be sentto our partner. They remove the read and write protection and return the ECU to us. We then reinstall the ECU and can equip your car with our own Mosselman software (ECU remap/chiptuning). The entire process takes approximately 4–7 days, during which the car remains in our workshop. We have already tuned many cars successfully in this way, often achieving a turnaround time of 4 to 5 days. If we ship the ECU on a Monday, the car is often fully tuned and ready by Friday.
Permanent and Safe
The ECU unlock is a permanent solution and cannot be undone by a (remote) BMW software update. The ECU unlock is a software modification, the ECU will not be opened, which results in a reliable and safe solution.
Price
The price of the unlock is €400 (excluding possible VAT) for each ECU. The total price for tuning consists of the unlock, the remap (chiptuning), and optionally fine-tuning on our dyno. Please contact us for a quote for your BMW.
Insured Shipping
Our partner is one of the few in the world offering this ECU unlock service. Ideally, we would perform the unlock on-site at our own location, but there is currently no indication that this will become possible. The ECUs are shipped insured via UPS, and we have not experienced any issues so far. Should any problems occur or if the ECU is lost, we will of course resolve this for you.
